Outcomes-based Evaluation Can Show That Your Nonprofit Is Making a Real Difference

Most nonprofit organizations help others and have worthy missions.  But there are a lot of nonprofits out there (Austin has the most nonprofits per capita in the United States)! If you want your organization to be focused and able to compete for grant dollars, you will likely have to implement an evaluation process. Simply put, outcomes evaluation looks at the benefits your clients receive from your programs and how you are doing that work. It's important to note that this is not just looking at numbers of people served, but true changes. These changes can be short-term or long-term. These impacts tell your donors and grantors if you are meeting your mission and how.

You can start simply and work into more complexity as your organization grows and you add programs. Using a consultant who can walk you through the process and advise on how and why to collect certain types of data. Don't let the process scare you, but don't ignore it either. I'd be happy to work with you on making your organization more intentional and investable. Contact me here to learn more.
